In a recent unit on evolution, students studied Charles Darwin and the various theories, experiences, and persons who shaped his explanation of evolution by natural selection. Students were then asked to create a product that summarizes their understanding of people and experiences that shaped Charles Darwin. Below I've outlined the details of the assignment, provided an example of a student submission, and an artifact showing my feedback to the student.
STANDARDS:The Georgia Standards of Excellence for Biology that are assessed in this assignment are below:

PRODUCT:Students were given a few different options for creating this assignment.

- Create a social media profile for Darwin that shows connections and interactions with other scientists as well as posts about experiences that shaped his views on evolution. Technology Tool: Classtools.net Fakebook Generator
- Create a virtual tour of Darwin's life-changing journey aboard the HMS Beagle. Suggested technology tools: Google My Maps or Google Tour Builder
- Other options as approved by teacher. Must meet same criteria of assignment.
CRITERIA:
- 5 posts on social media site OR 5 key stops on voyage map.
- Fakebook: Posts showing interaction with various individuals (Not all posts by Darwin)
- Map/Tour: Images and details about each stop on the voyage map.
